Ribbon Brownies
Brownies are everyone’s favorite. Frequently, they are one of the first recipes a beginning baker tries. Many of us remember helping our mom bake brownies as a child. Here is a delicious twist on an old favorite.
What You Need:
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 eggs, well beaten
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup crushed pineapple, drained
- 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
How to Make It:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla and eggs; mix well. Sift together salt, flour, cinnamon and baking powder; add to creamed mixture. Remove 1 cup of the batter and mix with pineapple; set aside. Add chocolate and nuts to remaining batter. Pour half the chocolate mixture into 9 x 13-inch pan; add pineapple mixture layer and cover with remaining chocolate batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.
Helpful Baking Tip: Do not over mix your brownies as this may make them tough or crusty on the top. You want to mix your wet and dry ingredients just long enough to blend them, no more.
